Riverdale Soccer League (Girls Division)

Since the Fall of 1998, the Club has sponsored a recreational girls-only league for girls ages 8 through 14. The League is designed to introduce young girls to the joy and beauty of playing soccer, to help them to develop to their fullest potential as players, to encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and the responsibilities of playing on a team, and to have fun.

Unlike the travel team program, participation in the Girls Soccer League is open to any girl wanting to play. The League plays in Seton Park in the fall, and in Van Cortlandt Park in the spring. Fall games are on Sundays, spring games on Saturdays. Teams usually also practice once a week, with the time and place arranged by the team's coach. In recent seasons, between 150 and 200 girls have played in the League, divided into three age divisions: a younger division for 3rd and 4th graders, a middle division for 5th and 6th graders, and an older division for 7th through 9th graders. Teams are coached by parents on a voluntary basis, but games are refereed by paid licensed referees.

Registration is done in June for the Fall season, and February for the Spring season. The registration fee is $85 per player. Late signups are allowed if space is available, although an additional $10 late fee is charged.
